Justin Thomas and Luke List.
Justin Thomas doesn’t like drama on Sunday. That may be hard to believe considering that Thomas is the reigning PGA Player of the Year and the FedEx Cup Champion.
At the Honda Classic, Thomas showed his distaste for Sunday dramatics in a myriad of ways, as much as it tries to find him. First, he shot a blistering 65 on Saturday, which was enough to distance him from everyone in the field except one…..or, actually, two people who started the day at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. on Sunday.
While Patience on Sunday is a Thomas mantra, he showed little of it with a heckler in the gallery, ultimately getting the unruly fan escorted from the grounds. After shooting an 8-under par 272, Thomas had to contend with Luke List, a 33-year-old Tour pro seeking his first win. Thomas, as is his wont, dispatched him in one playoff hole.
The win was the second of 2018 for Thomas, as he looks to replicate his steller 2017. It was the third playoff in five FedEx events this season, and seventh in 15 tournaments across all PGA Tours in 2018.
Even Tiger Woods, no stranger to drama himself, faced an unusual obstacle on his way to a 12th-place finish. A bird crossed the path of one of his tee shots and got grazed for his trouble.
