Unfortunately, the most consistent winner early in the 2018 Northeast local track racing season has been Mother Nature. However, that does not mean there have not been great performances.
By far the most consistent performer has been Jimmy Blewett at Wall (NJ) Stadium, who has literally been perfect, whether driving a Modified or a Modified Sportsman. Kudos to Janice Blewett, who has been there to record every exhilarating lap, even though she had to dress like she was attending a Christmas Pageant rather than an early spring night at the races.
At Riverhead Raceway, Mother Nature only permitted Opening Night to be held thus far. Kyle Soper would win two feature events, Modified and Late Model, that night.
Finally, the WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR should have a truly competitive, exciting season after they resume action following taking the month of May off. My suspicion is Jimmy Wilson and his staff may be trying to outwit Mother Nature.
