As expected, Christopher Bell to the #20 car for the 2021 season. Joe Gibbs Racing announced today, that Christopher Bell will be driving the #20 JGR car next season, leaving Erik Jones without a ride for next season as of today.
Bell has a very strong rookie season (second in rookie points) going this year with Leavine Family Racing, with one top-five and five top-tens in 22 NCS starts this season.
“I’m so appreciative of the opportunity I have this year with LFR and I want to finish this season strong for Bob (Leavine) and everyone there,” said Bell in a release Monday. “At the same time, I’m extremely excited to return to Joe Gibbs Racing starting in 2021. It’s an organization I’m very comfortable with and have had a lot of success with.”
JGR, who signed him to their Xfinity Series program, was excited to have him back behind the wheel for their organization.
“We are excited to bring Christopher into our Cup Series program starting in 2021,” said Joe Gibbs, owner of JGR. “He obviously had tremendous success in the Xfinity Series with us and we look forward to his return to JGR.”
Bell won 16 races for Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series before moving to the Cup Series for the 2020 season.
As a big fan of Christopher Bell and someone who is always looking to get Bell on The 110 Nation Sports Show, I am for one glad to see him behind the wheel of a competitive car.
The 2021 Joe Gibbs Racing lineup will consist of Cup Series champions Kyle Busch (2), Martin Truex Jr (1), plus Denny Hamlin (42 Cup Series Wins) and Christopher Bell. Life couldn’t get much nicer at JGR, now let’s see how well the gel at JGR.
