Joey Bosa and the LA Chargers have agreed to a five-year, $135 million dollar contract extension. This contract includes $78 million fully guaranteed at signing and $102 million in total guarantees.
Both of these guarantees are NFL records…
Chargers and DE Joey Bosa reached agreement on a 5-year, $135 million extension that ties him to LA the next six years, league sources tell ESPN. He had $78M fully guaranteed at signing and $102M guaranteed – a new NFL defensive record.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) July 29, 2020
In his four seasons, Bosa has tallied up 40 sacks and is averaging 0.8 sacks per game. This ranks him fourth in the NFL. Bosa has the second-highest pass rush win rate among qualified pass-rushers since the start of 2017.
Bosa gets to enter training camp for his fifth season in the NFL, with his new deal and a sense of relief. In 2019, Bosa earned his second career Pro Bowl berth in 2019, when he recorded 64 total tackles with 11.5 sacks.
This will be one less distraction, especially going into a season with the uncertainties thanks to COVID-19.
