The Patriots gave up the 19th pick in the second round to the Atlanta Falcons for Sanu to play just nine games in 2019.
Sanu was due to earn $6.5 million this season, which is a very lofty price tag for a player who is projected to be the fourth option on this year’s Patriots roster.
Sanu got off to a fast start in New England, catching 10 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown in his second game in 2019 (and a total of 26 cathches for 207 yards and one touchdown with Brady last season). An ankle injury the very next game slowed him down the rest of the season and led to offseason surgery.
Sanu only caught 26 passes for 207 yards and one touchdown with Brady last season.
